The Sachsenring, located near Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Germany, has a history of motorcycle racing dating back to 1927 on a dangerous 8.6 km public road course. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, a new, safer permanent circuit was built in 1995, incorporating a state-of-the-art driver training center. The modern 3.671 km (2.281-mile) track is a tight, twisty, and technical anti-clockwise layout with numerous blind corners and dramatic elevation changes, including a breathtaking downhill plunge known as 'The Waterfall.' Since 1998, it has been the home of the German motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP), where its unique character makes it a favorite among riders and a spectacular venue for fans.
