Jerez de la Frontera, Andalusia, Spain (View on Map)
Opened on December 8, 1985, the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto is a premier motorsport facility in Andalusia, Spain. The 4.428 km (2.751-mile) circuit is a favorite for testing, particularly for Formula 1 and MotoGP teams, due to its mild winter climate and a well-balanced layout that features a wide variety of corner types, from slow hairpins to fast, sweeping bends. It hosted the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix from 1986 to 1990 and the European Grand Prix in 1994 and 1997, the latter being the infamous title decider between Michael Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve. While F1 no longer races there, Jerez has been a cornerstone of the MotoGP calendar since 1987, hosting the Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix. In 2018, the circuit was renamed in honor of the legendary Spanish 13-time Grand Prix motorcycle World Champion, Ángel Nieto.
