Magny-Cours, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, France (View on Map)
Located in central France, the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours was built in 1960 and became famous as the home of the prestigious Winfield Racing School, which produced a generation of French racing stars. The track underwent a major redesign in the late 1980s to meet Formula 1 standards and subsequently hosted the French Grand Prix from 1991 to 2008. The modern 4.411 km (2.741-mile) circuit is known for its smooth surface and a mix of technical corners, many of which are named after corners from other famous circuits, such as the Estoril corner and the Adelaide hairpin. Its combination of fast chicanes and slow, tight hairpins makes it a technical challenge. Michael Schumacher was particularly dominant at the venue, winning the French Grand Prix a record eight times. Today, Magny-Cours hosts major international events, including the FIM Superbike World Championship and rounds of the GT World Challenge Europe.
