Track Details

Phoenix Raceway, located in Avondale, Arizona, is a unique 1-mile, low-banked tri-oval that opened in 1964. The track is distinguished by its 'dogleg' on the backstretch, a remnant of its original design which incorporated a road course. For years, the track was a staple for open-wheel racing before hosting its first NASCAR Cup Series race in 1988. In 2018, the facility underwent a massive $178 million renovation that completely reimagined the fan experience. The project included moving the start/finish line to what was formerly Turn 2, just before the dogleg, creating a unique and exciting restart zone. Since 2020, Phoenix Raceway has had the honor of hosting the NASCAR Championship Weekend, where the champions of all three national series are crowned.
