Mogyoród, Pest, Hungary (View on Map)
The Hungaroring holds a unique place in motorsport history as the first circuit to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain in 1986. Located in Mogyoród, near Budapest, Hungary, the 4.381 km (2.722-mile) track was built in a record eight months. It is known for its tight, twisty, and technical layout, often compared to a street circuit without the buildings, which makes overtaking notoriously difficult. The track's character places a premium on qualifying position and race strategy. Despite its reputation for processional races, it has been the site of many memorable moments, including Nigel Mansell's incredible charge from 12th to win in 1989 and Jenson Button's first Grand Prix victory in 2006.
