The Red Bull Ring is a 4.318 km (2.683-mile) circuit located in Spielberg, Austria, with a history stretching back to 1969 when it opened as the fast and fearsome Österreichring. The original track was a high-speed, flowing circuit that hosted the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix until 1987. It was shortened and redesigned by Hermann Tilke, reopening in 1996 as the A1-Ring, which hosted F1 until 2003. After falling into disuse, the track was purchased and revitalized by Red Bull, reopening in 2011 as the Red Bull Ring. The modern layout retains much of the A1-Ring's character, featuring dramatic elevation changes, high-speed straights, and heavy braking zones, making it a spectacular venue for both the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix and the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix.
