Track Details

Opened on September 10, 1991, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is a world-class motorsport facility located in Montmeló, Spain. The 4.657 km (2.894-mile) circuit is renowned for its well-balanced layout, which features a mix of high-speed corners, technical slow-speed sections, and a long main straight, making it a comprehensive test of a car's aerodynamic efficiency and mechanical grip. Because of this, it has been a favored venue for Formula 1 pre-season testing for many years. The circuit has hosted the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix every year since its inauguration and has also been a permanent fixture on the MotoGP calendar since 1992. Memorable moments include the iconic wheel-to-wheel duel between Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell during the inaugural F1 race and Michael Schumacher's first Ferrari victory in a torrential downpour in 1996.
