Circuit of The Americas (COTA), located in Austin, Texas, is the first purpose-built Grand Prix facility in the United States. Opened in 2012, the 3.426-mile (5.513 km) track was designed by Hermann Tilke and features 20 turns, incorporating elements inspired by other famous circuits. Its signature feature is the dramatic 133-foot climb into the tight, blind Turn 1, which has become an iconic start to races. The layout combines fast, sweeping sections reminiscent of Silverstone's Maggots-Becketts-Chapel complex with a long back straight and tight, technical corners. COTA has hosted the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix since its inauguration and is also a key stop for the MotoGP and NASCAR calendars, making it a premier, multi-disciplinary motorsport and entertainment hub in North America.
