Track Details

Rockingham Speedway, affectionately known as 'The Rock,' is a 1.017-mile D-shaped oval in Rockingham, North Carolina, that was a staple of the NASCAR circuit for nearly 40 years. Opened in 1965, the track was renowned for its abrasive surface, which caused extreme tire wear and placed a premium on tire management and long-run speed. This characteristic made it a favorite among drivers who excelled at car control. The track hosted two NASCAR Cup Series races annually until it was removed from the schedule after the 2004 season. After years of dormancy, the historic speedway has seen a revival, hosting various grassroots and special events, with NASCAR set to make its return with the Craftsman Truck Series in 2025, bringing a beloved venue back to the national stage.
