Track Details

Built in 1963, Circuit Zolder is a 4.011 km (2.492-mile) racetrack located in the forests of Limburg, Belgium. It served as an alternate host for the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix ten times between 1973 and 1984, during a period when the original Spa-Francorchamps was deemed too dangerous. The track is a mix of fast straights and a series of chicanes and tight corners, making it a technical challenge. Zolder is tragically remembered as the site of Canadian racing legend Gilles Villeneuve's fatal accident during qualifying for the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. Despite its somber history, the circuit remains a popular venue for a variety of national and international series, including DTM and GT racing, and hosts the 24 Hours of Zolder endurance race.
