The Long Beach Street Circuit is the oldest and most famous street race in North America. First held in 1975 for Formula 5000 cars, the event quickly elevated to host the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix West from 1976 to 1983. Since 1984, it has been the premier event on the IndyCar Series calendar. The 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary circuit is laid out on the downtown streets of Long Beach, California, winding around the convention center and along the waterfront. The track is known for its iconic final hairpin turn and long, high-speed Shoreline Drive straight. The Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach is a festival-like event that also features races for the IMSa WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the Formula Drift series, making it one of the most diverse and popular race weekends in the world.
