Opened in 2006, Iowa Speedway is a 7/8-mile paved D-shaped oval in Newton, Iowa, often called "The Fastest Short Track on the Planet". The track was designed with input from NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace and features progressive banking in its corners (12-14 degrees), a design intended to promote side-by-side racing. For years, it was a popular stop for the NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series, as well as the IndyCar Series. After a brief hiatus from the NASCAR national series schedules, the track was purchased by NASCAR and underwent significant upgrades before hosting its first-ever NASCAR Cup Series race in 2024, bringing top-level stock car racing to the passionate Iowa fanbase.
