Opened in 1990 as a private track for wealthy enthusiasts, the Okayama International Circuit (formerly TI Circuit Aida) is a 3.703 km (2.301-mile) road course in Mimasaka, Japan. The track is best known for hosting the Formula 1 Pacific Grand Prix in 1994 and 1995, both of which were won by Michael Schumacher. The circuit features a relatively short layout with a mix of tight, technical corners and a long back straight, making it a challenge for car setup. After F1 departed, due in part to its remote location, Okayama became a staple venue for premier Japanese domestic series, including Super GT and Super Formula. It also hosted the World Touring Car Championship from 2008 to 2010.
