Track Details

South Boston Speedway, or "SoBo," is a historic 0.4-mile paved oval in South Boston, Virginia, that has been a pillar of NASCAR grassroots racing for over six decades. Opened in 1957 as a quarter-mile dirt track, it was paved and expanded in the early 1960s and has been a NASCAR-sanctioned facility since 1960. The track's long straights and tight, 12-degree banked corners produce classic short-track action. SoBo has hosted races for all of NASCAR's national divisions and has been a proving ground for countless legends, including Richard Petty, Dale Earnhardt, and local heroes like Jeff Burton. Today, it is a premier track in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series and hosts the prestigious Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200, a key race in the Virginia Late Model Triple Crown.
