Track Details

Chicagoland Speedway, located in Joliet, Illinois, opened in 2001 as a premier motorsports facility designed to bring top-level racing to the Chicago metropolitan area. The track is a 1.5-mile D-shaped tri-oval, featuring 18-degree banking in the turns, which created fast, multi-groove racing. From 2001 to 2019, it was a staple on the NASCAR national series schedules and also hosted the IndyCar Series, where it was known for producing some of the closest finishes in the sport's history. From 2011 to 2017, Chicagoland had the distinction of hosting the opening race of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. The facility has not hosted a major NASCAR event since 2019, and its future remains a subject of discussion within the industry.
