Oxford Plains Speedway is a 3/8-mile paved oval in Oxford, Maine, and is one of New England's most historic short tracks. Opened in 1950 as a half-mile dirt track, it was paved and reconfigured in the 1960s. The track even hosted three NASCAR Cup Series races from 1966 to 1968, with winners including Richard Petty and Bobby Allison. Oxford Plains is most famous for being the home of the Oxford 250, one of the most prestigious short track races in North America. First run in 1974, the event draws Super Late Model drivers from across the continent to compete for a large purse and immense prestige. With a seating capacity of 14,000, it is the largest sports venue in Maine and a cornerstone of the regional racing scene.
